Filipino Seminary Presidents in 50 Years
As if you did not know — from 1952 to 2003, a span of 50 long years, Union Theological Seminary got six Filipino presidents:
Dr. Benjamin I. Guansing, UMC (1952-66). He was elected as bishop of his church while serving as president of the seminary.
Dr. Jacob S. Quiambao, UMC (1966-71)
Dr. Emerito P. Nacpil, UMC (1971-75) . He was elected as bishop of his church, re-elected, and became the second bishop-for-life in the United Methodist Church.
Dr. Levi V. Oracion, UCCP (1975-83)
Dr. Meynardo R. Jose, UMC (1983-90) . After his term of office at UTS, he was appointed to administer the affairs of the newly organized Wesley Divinity School of The United Methodist Church, Cabanatuan City.
Dr. Mariano C.Apilado, UCCP (1990 to November 2003). He went on Sabbatical leave effective December 1, 2003 to finish his latest book.

1. Dr. Anselmo Lupdag was appointed Officer-in-Charge of UTS in December 2003. He resigned after several months in office.
2. Dr. Oscar Suarez was appointed Officer-in-Charge of UTS in 2004. He is the incumbent president of the Philippine Christian University.
